Kararrim Project: bringing solar energy to the Pontal, Kanyndé and Piraputuá villages

The Kararrim Project is a partnership between the Amazonas Institute and REM, REDD Early Movers Mato Grosso (REM MT), which will make the villages of Pontal, Kanyndé and Piraputuá, in the Apiaká Indigenous Land of Pontal and Isolados, even brighter with solar energy.

The aim is to improve the quality of life of the Apiaká and Munduruku people by bringing a sustainable and renewable source of energy to these communities. There are 106 indigenous people who will benefit from this initiative!

But it doesn't stop there! The project will also promote environmental education activities with the Pontal Annex School and the Apiaká community, giving practical lessons to teachers and providing guidance on the conscious consumption of precious resources such as water and energy. In addition, together we will reduce the use of plastic, take care to dispose of waste correctly and reuse materials in creative and sustainable ways.

Turning pet bottles into daylight bulbs is just one example of what we can do! They will be installed in homes and shared areas, lighting the way to a greener and more conscious future.
