We've reached the heart of Arraiol Bailique, a riverside community located in the Bailique archipelago, where the Amazon River meets the Atlantic Ocean.
Living in harmony with the river, the residents of Bailique depend on the waters for transport, food and sustenance. The journey here is challenging: only by inland waterway, facing long hours of sailing and the natural obstacles of the region.
Through the dedication of Professor Diana Araújo, we have come this far to support the Diego Camilo Community Library, a space of knowledge and hospitality that strengthens local culture and transforms lives.
The library serves 80 local residents. With two dedicated monitors, it welcomes children aged 2 to 12, offering play activities, reading and research support for teenagers. It also helps young people and children who need support with their school research.
On Fridays, one of the most special moments takes place: the children go to the library and, together, read to the elderly in the community, promoting connection, an exchange of experiences and affection.
More than a reading space, the library is an essential meeting point for the whole community. Riverside life is marked by unity and the sharing of knowledge, and this project further strengthens that tradition.
Our commitment to access to education and culture remains steadfast!
If you believe in the power of reading and the importance of education for riverside communities, share this message and help bring more knowledge to new places!
