🌿 Rescuing Munduruku Culture with Support from the Amazonas Institute and Dsei Kayapó 🌿

In the Apiaká-Kayabi indigenous territory, located in the Rio dos Peixes region of Mato Grosso do Sul, Munduruku women face profound challenges due to the culture shock that distances their traditions and brings them closer to the culture of non-indigenous people. But together, they are rediscovering their roots and strengthening their identity! 💪🏽✨

Through a partnership between the Amazonas Institute and the multi-professional team at the Casai Juara - Dsei Kayapó Mato Grosso Pole, the Indigenous Health Psychosocial Programme seeks to encourage these women to seek autonomy and sustainability by rescuing their art and culture. Tradition will now be kept alive through fabric painting and the creation of munduruku gourd dolls, expressing ancestral stories and memories.

The group is made up of 10 Munduruku women, who have begun meetings to define the next steps in creating pieces that reflect the identity and resistance of this people, an important step in preserving and strengthening their culture. By supporting initiatives like this, we value ancestral knowledge and ensure that the richness of indigenous art lives on! 🌎✨

Help share this cause! 💛
