FOREST SOAP

At Instituto Amazonas, we offer courses and workshops that teach the production of soap and natural soaps, promoting not only health and hygiene, but also income generation and sustainable development.

This initiative plays a crucial role in preventing illnesses, including COVID-19, as well as other conditions related to personal hygiene. By providing knowledge about the production of natural soaps, we empower indigenous, riverside and youth communities in the Amazon with practical skills to manufacture safe and effective cleaning products.

The production of soap and natural soaps has a number of benefits. In addition to being a sustainable alternative to commercial products laden with harmful chemicals, it allows the use of local ingredients, often found in the Amazon rainforest itself. This values the richness of the local biodiversity and promotes the preservation of the environment.

By participating in our courses and workshops, indigenous people learn artisanal soap production techniques, explore the beneficial properties of natural ingredients such as medicinal herbs and essential oils, and discover how to customize and package their own products.

In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, the production of natural soaps plays a key role in preventing and controlling infections. Frequent hand washing with soap is one of the most effective measures to prevent the spread of viruses and bacteria. By learning how to produce their own soaps, people can have access to an essential product to maintain personal hygiene and general health.
