Afro-Brazilian and Indigenous Cultural Sarau at Professor Alzira Maria da Silva State School

@escolalzira hosted an unforgettable event: the Afro-Brazilian and Indigenous Cultural Sarau!

There were many exciting presentations, vibrant dances and songs sung by the women and men of the Mebengokrê/Kayapó ethnic group, stunning parades, indigenous handicrafts, delicious traditional food and enriching talks by activist @professoramariaivonete. In addition to the beautiful paintings made by the talented Kayapó women.

The Amazonas Institute was present at the event, at the invitation of the @gremio_forca_alzira_maria Grêmio , director Júnior Consoni and teacher @claudioscalon, collaborating with a wealth of knowledge and support, highlighting the importance of valuing Afro-Brazilian and Indigenous cultures.

The soiree not only enriched the students' school lives, but will also have a profound impact on their personal lives.

Events like this are essential for strengthening cultural identity, promoting respect and appreciation for diversity and combating prejudice.

They help to build a fairer and more equal society, where everyone is proud of their roots and traditions.

Indigenous and Afro-Brazilian culture are fundamental pillars of our national identity. Celebrating these cultures is celebrating our history, our resistance and our diversity. 🌍✨

The Amazonas Institute supports and encourages initiatives like this, which promote cultural pride and social inclusion. Together, we are building a future where all voices are heard and respected.
