HEALTH AND VACCINATION
The purpose of the "Vaccine Education and Digital Inclusion in the Amazon" project is to create educational resources in several indigenous languages and establish a connection with leaders of indigenous communities.
The central objective is to clarify the relevance of immunization for the indigenous peoples that inhabit the Amazon, approaching it as a complement to traditional medicine, with the aim of safeguarding the health of forest populations.
Our approach involves close collaboration with indigenous elders to combat any hesitation about vaccines through education and digital inclusion. Through respectful dialogue and careful attention to local traditions, we are building a bridge between contemporary medicine methods and traditional medicine principles.
This integration aims to ensure that indigenous communities have access to the most up-to-date and accurate information on immunization, empowering them to make informed decisions about their own health.
Started in February 2022, the project originally involved 7400 individuals belonging to 6 different indigenous ethnic groups. Today, it has expanded and has the active participation of 11 different indigenous peoples.
Our collective collaboration is generating methods of communication that combat misinformation and shine a light on the crucial importance of vaccines. In this way, we are promoting changes in pre-existing perceptions and ensuring the continued health of these communities.
